Born July 5, 1976 in Jackson, Oregon, Sage entered the world as offspring to hippie artist parents.

At the age of 6, they moved to Southern California, the community of Reseda, a sprawling bucolic

suburb of Los Angeles. As a young boy, Sage fell in love with the nearby urban art scene, particularly

street art — the grafitti murals of artists like Think and Sk8, as well as prolific NY graf artist, Futura.

In the streets of LA, Sage soon found his canvas on the massive blank walls around the city and

practiced his craft. Needless to say, many of his early murals were fleeting (and illegal), quickly

replaced by Caltrans workers.

In 1994, at 18, Sage abandoned his rebel art to pursue a college career at Santa Cruz as a pre-med

student. He quickly realized that medicine was not his passion, so like many artists in pursuit to find

themselves, he promptly dropped out of school and spent the following few summers traveling.

Soon, he returned to Los Angeles, working with Whitney Bienial alum, installation/conceptual artist

Glenn Kaino and head of fine arts masters program at UC Riverside, Daniel Martinez. Both artists had

a profound influence on Sage's desire to evolve as an artist. He also worked in construction for the

theme park industry. In 2002, Sage returned to painting, this time on canvas. Life quickly changed. His

work of guardedly optimistic images conveyed through a mix of illustration and paint became his new

mode of expression.

Soon, solo and group shows at local galleries became regular. He also participated in a few seminal

shows in his career, the Chrysalis Benefit Shows at Christies and Bergamot Station, where his work

was featured alongside legendary artists Ed Ruscha, Tobias Keene and Mark Mothersbaugh. Recent

issues of Warped, Nylon, Juxtapos and PUTA magazines featured Sage as an artist to watch. Interscope/Geffen

Records and several others commissioned his original artwork for their hottest new acts. His artwork

graces the highly-visible debut album from the rock group, Rooney.

Sage continues to contribute his work to Los Angeles charities including Chrysalis, The Heart Project

and Los Angeles Team Mentoring. He also continues to receive commissions and offers for solo shows

throughout the US.

Currently, Sage lives in Silverlake with his cat Sergeant.
